Manchester United striker Anthony Elanga was exposed to alleged racist remarks by an opponent during his game for the Swedish U21s against Italy, the Swedish Football Association said.

Sweden provided an oral report to the referee and match delegates following the allegations made by Elanga, 19.

“Nobody should be exposed to racism, that is totally unacceptable,” said Swedish coach Claes Eriksson.

“We all stand behind Anthony and support him in it.”

The qualifying game for the U21 European Championship ended on Tuesday with 1: 1, Sweden equalized in the 92nd minute.

Elanga played once for United this season and was substituted on in the Carabao Cup loss to West Ham in September.

BBC Sport has asked the Italian Football Association (FIGC) for a comment.
