Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Odudu injured and on crutches before the final – NEWS WORLD UPDATE

Strictly Come Dancing finalist AJ Odudu is on crutches after sustaining a foot injury before Saturday’s final.

The TV host confirmed to the BBC on Wednesday that she had been unable to train this week due to ligament damage.

However, she and her partner Kai Widdrington still have hopes of participating in the show this Saturday.

“Going into the past week, I’m literally on crutches at the worst possible time,” she told Radio 1’s Newsbeat.

“But I’m trying to get by.”

She added, “Hey listen, even if Kai just has to take me around the dance floor, and I’ll do some armography, we’ll make it work.”

Odudu will compete with EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis and television chef and former Bake Off winner John Whaite for the glitter ball trophy.

The 33-year-old scored her first perfect 40 for a fast pace during last Saturday’s semi-final.

That put her ensemble at the top of the rankings alongside Ayling-Ellis and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

After the semifinal, Odudu thanked fans for her messages and votes, saying that she felt like “the luckiest girl in the world.”

She tweeted, “I still can’t believe we’re strictly FINALISTS! I’m so happy I could explode. Thank you for all your votes and kind messages and thank you Kai for believing in me.”

Odudu is best known for hosting the Big Brother spin-off Bit on the Side and the Channel 4 reality show Married at First Sight: Afters.
