Dons manager Stephen Glass, who played for Newcastle, said: “For a young player, Matty has played a lot of top-flight games for a top club, against some of the biggest teams in England. .
“We believe he will continue to make good progress here with us.
“We are delighted he has chosen Aberdeen to help him develop his career, especially as he has other senior options in the UK to consider.
“We are sure that he will have a positive impact and will help us with the rest of the campaign.”

Kylian Mbappe: Real Madrid may want to sign PSG in January despite active talks
Real Madrid submitted a second bid of £145.6m for Kylian Mbappe on Thursday; The Spanish side’s first offer of £137m was rejected by Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday; Mbappe has less than a year left on his contract and has told PSG he wants to join Real
Real Madrid could wait until the January transfer window to make a different approach to Kylian Mbappe, despite active talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the striker’s transfer.
Real and PSG held progressive talks on Thursday following their second bid of £145.6m (170m euros), but Sky Sports News says a deal is not yet closed.
Mbappe has told PSG, who turned down Real’s £137m opening offer on Wednesday, it’s his dream to play for the Spanish side.
According to Sky Sports News sources in France, Real Madrid are starting to get the feeling that it might be better to wait until January because PSG are not realistic in their negotiations.
Real Madrid could sign a pre-contract agreement with Mbappe on January 1, 2022 and he could move there on a free transfer next summer.
The striker’s contract with PSG expires at the end of the season and he has so far rejected the French club’s bid to extend his contract.
Speaking on Thursday, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi discussed Real’s latest bid with beIN SPORTS, saying: “We have always been very clear… the situation, the position of the club.
“We won’t repeat that every time. You know our position, it doesn’t change.”
However, the Ligue 1 team’s sporting director Leonardo will make more of an appearance on Wednesday, following Real’s first offer for Mbappe.
He told RMC Sport: “Kylian wants to leave, it seems obvious to me. If Real Madrid make an offer, it seems clear to me… I am holding a position. which I think is obvious to everyone.”
“If he wants to leave, we won’t keep him, but that will depend on our conditions.
“Kylian always promised that he would never leave the club for free. That’s what he always told us.
“We don’t plan to talk to Real Madrid again. The deadline is at midnight on August 31. That’s the way the transfer window is, but we’re clear on this: we want to keep it.” him and renewed his contract.”
“But we will not let him go for less than what we paid him, when we still owe Monaco.”
PSG signed Mbappe from Monaco in a deal worth 180 million euros in 2018 following a season-long loan spell.
However, they have only paid €145 million so far, with the rest due when Mbappe renews his contract or when PSG sell him.
Mbappe has scored 133 goals and provided 63 assists in 174 games in all competitions since joining PSG and helping them win 11 major domestic trophies, including three Ligue 1 titles.
Real Madrid have suffered an estimated £257m (€300m) loss due to the coronavirus pandemic and David Alaba, who joined on a free transfer earlier this summer after his contract at Bayern Expired Munich, is the only addition to their squad so far during the current transfer window.
Meanwhile, PSG have signed Lionel Messi, Achraf Hakimi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Georginio Wijnaldum.
